The Beautiful, Timeless Marilyn Monroe!
“…She gave more to the still camera than any actress…any woman…I’ve ever photographed, infinitely more patient, more demanding of herself and more comfortable in front of the camera than away from it.”….Richard Avedon

Famke Janssen - Golden Eye’s Bondage Girl

Famke Janssen Photo Enlargement

Arguably the most entertaining thing about Golden Eye was Famke Janssen in the role of Xenia Zirgavna Onatopp. As a sex-crazed bad girl who enjoys pain (giving, receiving…doesn’t matter), she created one of those characters that when they aren’t on the screen, you’re looking for them - and when they are on the screen, you’re looking nowhere else.
I have, of course, also done my homework on this beautiful and talented actress:
FAMKE JANSSEN
* Famke was born in Holland in 1965. The USA has been her home since 1984.
* She made her film debut in Fathers & Sons.
* Famke modeled for Chanel in the 1980’s.
* She majored in Literature at Columbia University.
* Famke has starred in House on Haunted Hill, Hide and Seek, X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand.
* Speaks Dutch, German, English, and French.
* Famke was offered the lead female role in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, but turned it down. I think the lead role then went to Claire Danes, but I won’t bet my Starbucks’ card on it.
* Did her own pool shots in Turn the River.
* Wears a size 11 shoe! Forgive me, I just find that fascinating.
* While appearing on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” in 1993 to promote her role of the sex-crazed assassin in GoldenEye, Famke gave Conan a first hand experience of her character’s signature moves by performing them on him using the top of his desk. When she asked him if he would like the demonstration, Conan responded with “This is what we in the industry call a ‘no-brainer’.”

Izabella Scorupco - Golden Eye’s Bond Girl

GoldenEye Poster

Between Christmas and anniversary gifts, my husband has racked up three different James Bond dvd sets, so we’ve been watching a lot of Bond lately. Bond. James Bond.
We watched Golden Eye last night with my favorite Bond - Pierce Brosnan. I thought the movie was great - all sorts of action and humor. It was apparently Judi Dench’s premiere as M - and I love myself some Judi Dench greatly. The acting was also really top notch in this one as well. Famke Janssen was hilariously evil in her role and Izabella Scorupco (as Natalya Fyodorovna Simonova) proved to be one of my favorite Bond Girls ever. As always, when I’m watching a movie that has people who interest me, I’ve done my homework and have come up with some interesting tidbits about Izabella:

* Izabella was born in 1970 in Poland. She moved to Sweden at a very young age with her mother.
* Not surprisingly, Izabella worked as a model in Sweden.
* She speaks four languages.
* Izabella was also a pop singer in Sweden and even had a couple of hits.
* She has a daughter with ex-husband, hockey player Mariusz Czerkawski.
* She also has a son with her current husband.
* Izabella claims that when she was working for Ford Modeling, she went without food for 4 months, using water as her only nourishment.
* Was offered the lead female role in L.A. Confidential (1997), but turned it down. The role went to Kim Basinger.
* Was offered the lead female role in The Mask of Zorro (1998), but turned it down. The role went to Catherine Zeta-Jones. (Picking roles may not be her strength.)
* She’s 5′9″ and her nickname’s Iza.

Adorable Betty Boop Musical Figurine

Well, yes, of course this is under the category Female Sex Symbols. If Lady Boop doesn’t represent sexiness I’m not sure who does. I mean look at the come-hither looks she throws around.
The Betty Boop Musical Figurine, above, is from Avon.com and would make any room instantly cooler. She’s so freakin’ adorable!
From the Website:
Decked out in a glittery dress and a red hat, this musical Betty Boop just wants to be loved by you. Takes one button-cell battery (included). 6″ H. Resin.
She plays the song, “I Wanna Be Loved By You.”
Boop-Boop-Pe-Do!

Dolly Parton Turned 62 Yesterday!

Happy Birthday, Dolly!
I’m not really enjoying the trend we have going here - two losses are two losses too many. So, let’s celebrate and enjoy a favorite celebrity that’s still very much with us. The one and only Dolly Parton turned 62 years lovely on the 19th (yesterday).
Dolly Rebecca Parton was born on January 19, 1946 in Sevierville, Tennessee. Dolly was the fourth of 12 children. She has often said how “dirt poor” her family was - living in a rustic, run-down 1 room cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains. Dolly once told an interviewer that her grandfather was a Pentecostal “holy roller” preacher. However Dolly, herself, has never claimed one denomination over another. She acknowledges that all people are God’s children and often sings spiritual songs in her performances.
She met her future husband, Carl Dean, on her first day in Nashville, at the age of 18, in a laundromat! His first words to her were, “You’re gonna get sunburnt out there, little lady.” Falling head over heels in love led them to be married 2 years later and staying head over heels in love has allowed them to stay married to this day. Beautiful!

“I’m a Backwoods Barbie—too much makeup, too much hair, a push-up bra, and heels. It might look artificial, but where it counts I’m real.” - Dolly Parton

Father of the Bride and Father’s Little Dividend

Two of my favorite classics are on tomorrow afternoon on TCM: Father of the Bride (1950), appropriately followed by its sequel, Father’s Little Dividend (1951). Elizabeth Taylor is absolutley breathtaking in each of these adorable moviees.
Be sure to catch Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor - two of Hollywood’s brightest stars, in two of Hollywood’s best movies! So, call in, grab some popcorn, your drink of choice, and kick back for an afternoon you won’t soon forget.
…and you thought you had to work.

Cute Movie Poster - Miracle on 34th Street

Miracle on 34th Street Poster
Buy at AllPosters.com
Without a doubt, Maureen O’Hara’s one of the most beautiful actresses ever. Absolutely stunning. The hair, the voice, the figure, the face - a place for everything and everything in its place.
I’ve said it before, and I’m bound to say it again - I wish actresses today would try to capture the magic, mystery, class, and sophistication that actresses yesterday possessed. A few, in my opinion, do (Keira Knightley, Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Hilary Swank, and Reese Witherspoon to name a few.) But for the most part, they’re way too blatant and brassy.
There’s just something different about Maureen O’Hara, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly, and Rita Hayworth. And that something different is very attractive.
To be sure, the same can be said about actors yesterday vs. actors today! There aren’t very many Clark Galbes, John Wyanes, Cary Grants, or Clint Eastwoods walking around today.
So many girl-y boys! If John Wayne walked through Hollywood today, he wouldn’t know whether to date or punch half the actors.
Eh, too much cranberry sauce - makes me mean.
