I was adding a Johnny Depp Section to my Keira Knightley website today when I came across a quote by The Depp about The Dean:

“I started out as a guitarist in the early Eighties. I hooked up with a guy who idolized James Dean and he gave me a copy of the Dean biography, ‘The Mutant King’, which I thought was really interesting. While reading the book, I watched Rebel Without a Cause (1955), and I thought, ‘Wow, this guy really has something’, and I was hooked. I wasn’t really into acting at the time - but James Dean was the catalyst.”

One of today’s greatest giving props to one of yesterday’s greatest. I thought that was worth repeating.

This is a hot one! I could fill my home with James Dean-inspired art and still want more. His quirky personality and originality come through and you feel kind of like you’re in the room with the legend, himself. This particular one is a favorite - and it’s for this very reason. It’s different, unusual, and marches to no beat in particular. Most of the artwork you’ll find involving Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn is as original as the individuals were - which is why, I think, all three are as popular now as they were when they were living.

I’ve become an addicted, happy little love slave to calendars. If I had my way, I’d have one in every room of the house.

Oh….yeah, I can have my way! I might just go there.

Really, they’re making calendars so sexy cool anymore, they’re more like decorations than time management. And I love the whole idea of expressing yourself through the calendars you choose. No matter what individual interests and passions you have, you can find them in a calendar. I’ve tested this theory, personally. From cooking to flowers, from cats to dolphins, from Johnny Depp to James Dean and from Keira Knightley to Audrey Hepburn, my favorite things can all be found in beautiful, funky calendars.

Check them out for yourself. You might not become so addicted to them that you’re ready to fill your house with them…but then again, you probably don’t eat meatloaf sandwiches with ketchup. With Diet Dr. Pepper. For breakfast.

Okay, I’ve only done that 4 times. Maybe 18.

I’ve had a new addiction join my list (coffee, chocolate, new movies, old movies purses, bracelets, cats, baking…) - Screensavers. I never knew there were so many possibilities until I started looking around. The great thing is, I can combine several of my addictions into one amazing screensaver. His short life was full of so much energy and excitement, I’m sure the air just crackled around him. I think you can pick that up in this picture. One look, and you can feel the energy.

As the title suggests, Mondo James Dean: A Collection of Stories and Poems about James Dean is a collection of stories and poems about the fascinating actor who died way, way too young by living far, far too fast.

James Dean is one of those people who everyone has an opinion about. Everyone agrees that he was unbelievably talented, and even more interesting. I often wonder just what he would have gone on to do if he hadn’t gotten behind the wheel that day.

Not long ago, I was thinking about movies that came out after his death (1955). I wonder which roles would have been his had he lived.

Ironic, isn’t it - even if he had gone on to make 100 films, he wouldn’t be more famous than he is right now. But I so wish he were still with us and had, in fact, made countless films. I’d own every single one, and probably have them memorized by now.

Something else I was thinking about recently - I see the same genius that resided in James Dean in another great, colorful actor: Johnny Depp. There’s a reckless abandonment to his acting style that reminds me of James Dean’s.

How amazing would it have been if these two could have made a movie together?!?! I think they would have been pretty amused with one another. How could they not be?

Hot tee! This one would be straight up sexy with a pair of jean shorts or Levi’s. It’d also look pretty amazing with a black or denim skirt.

My daughter, Steph, loves James Dean almost as much as she does The Depp - so this tee would fit her to a T.

While I’m thrilled to see my guy James on so many, I’m surprised there aren’t more with my favorite gals Rita Hayworth, Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner and (of course) Lucille Ball. Oh well, at least James is featured heavily - and I spied Clark Gable on one, too. He’s another big favorite of mine. He’s one of the few actors from that period of time that seemed like a totally normal Joe. Little wonder he didn’t hang out off set much with Vivien Leigh - one of the most peculiar of ‘em all! Beautiful? Absolutely. Talented? Definitely. One of my favorite actresses? You betcha. But normal? Nah. Loonier than a bed bug.

There’s one of James Dean with W.C. Fields and a few others and there are two of them who I can’t identify for the life of me - and I usually know Hollywood inside out! The longer I stare at it, the further they get from me, though.

Oh great, now I’m McCraving a McChicken, McFries and a McDrink. I pretty much know what’s for lunch.
